MY WRITING JOURNEY
Welcome! I am so excited to be sharing my debut novel with you. Writing the story of Finn and Evie and then publishing it has undoubtedly been one of the most joyous experiences of my life.
I have loved writing for as long as I can remember - journals, diaries, and even essays, but I found my writing groove in 2013 when, having started my makeup company, Look Fabulous Forever, I began to publish a weekly blog which is now read avidly every Sunday by several thousand committed followers of my musings on life as a woman growing older in our ageist society.
I also enjoyed writing my non-fiction book ‘Living the Life More Fabulous’ after I was approached by an agent who then did a deal on my behalf with Orion Spring. The book was published in 2018 and became a bestseller in the Fashion and Beauty category on Amazon for several weeks.
Then, last summer I decided that the story I'd had buzzing around my head for months if not years needed to be committed to paper. I felt so shy of sharing this at first and only told one very dear friend who is Irish and lives in Dublin. She helped me with the authenticity of my characters and settings and encouraged me like mad. Then, I took the risk of having my fledgling manuscript assessed by a professional. More encouragement, more enthusiasm for my story and, several months later ‘Like A Bird Without A Song’ was ready to leave the nest and fly into the world. May she finally sing a beautiful song!

THE THINGS I LOVE MOST
Apart from being an avid reader and now a novelist, (I can hardly believe I am writing that word!) I count my family as my greatest source of pleasure.
I am so lucky to live in south west London and to have both of my daughters, their husbands and families living very close to me. Between their two families I have five grandchildren. Two gorgeous boys who are now over 6’ tall and seem to grow every week, and three delightful girls, one of whom, India, was born with a chromosomal abnormality in 2012, and who is the inspiration for my life in so many ways. I suspect that I would not have founded my makeup and skincare brand in 2013 aged 65 if India had not been born.
I have always loved gardening, enjoy cooking healthy food and in recent years I have developed a passion for drawing and painting and take regular holidays in Italy specifically to explore watercolour painting which I love. I am also a francophile, having owned a beautiful house in the south east of France for over twenty years. I still return most summers, but now to a rented villa rather than my own property. So much easier to pack up and leave it when it’s time to drive home again - with wonderful memories and no concerns about the mice in the swimming pool!
